Sit with a parent or grandparent and record the story as they tell it. You can also bring in old recordings you already have permission to use.

Type a plain sentence like "My grandfather Mykola" and Hearthsay adds him to the tree in the right place, with the relations you described.
Ask, and get answers from saved memories only
Questions are answered from the recordings and transcripts your family saved, with the sources shown. Nothing is invented, and nothing is drawn from the open internet.
Installing it, honestly
Hearthsay for Android is installed directly from us rather than from an app store, so the first install takes one extra tap. Here is exactly what happens.
Download the APK
Tap the download button above. Your browser saves the Hearthsay app file, the same signed build published on our public releases page.
Allow the install
Android will ask whether you want to allow installs from your browser or file manager. That prompt is normal for an app installed outside an app store. Confirm it, then open the downloaded file.
Open Hearthsay and sign in
Sign in with your Hearthsay account. Early Access is invite-only, so request access first if you do not have an account yet.
Updates arrive in the app
From then on Hearthsay checks for new versions itself and offers them inside the app. Each update is verified against a published checksum before it installs, so a corrupted or altered file is refused.
Every release is published openly
Each build, its version, and its checksum are posted publicly on our GitHub releases page. You can download and verify any version yourself, including the one the download button hands you.
Updates you can trust
After the first install, the app keeps itself current. It reads the same public manifest this page uses, checks the file against its published SHA-256 checksum, and refuses anything that does not match.
Consent comes with the app
Record only people who have agreed to be recorded. Each person on your tree carries a Consent Passport that states how their recordings may be used, and it travels with every memory saved for them. Hearthsay never clones or recreates a voice: anything you play back is a real recording that person made.
